Rachel Hickmott, LMSW

About Me
I am Rachel Hickmott, LMSW. I live in the valley of Idaho with my partner and our two cats, Popeye and Olive. There is nothing I love more than a cozy night at home with my furry family, a scented candle, and a good show. I graduated with my master’s degree in social work from Boise State University in May of 2021. My values in social justice, empathy, and the dignity and worth of a person are what drew me to this field of work.
Therapeutic Approach
As a therapist, I believe that the client is the expert of their own experiences and that I am simply a guide on their journey. I primarily use a person-centered and strengths-based approach as I work with clients, as well as including skills and concepts from dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I often utilize motivational interviewing, specifically with adolescent clients to help involve them in their own recovery and skill building. I believe in the importance of creating a safe space for the therapeutic relationship to flourish, so that the client can grow and improve freely.
