About Me

Hi, I’m Peggy. I am a mom and grandmother, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and a BYU-Idaho Adjunct Online Instructor who teaches parenting to students from all over the world. In my 12 years as a professional counselor, I have specialized in helping girls and women (ages 8 to 80) who suffer from depression, anxiety, post-trauma issues, relationship problems, and spiritual challenges. I also specialize in helping Christian individuals who suffer from “religious perfectionism.” It is disheartening when going to Church causes anxiety or depression, but with help, individuals and families can rebuild upon a grace-filled foundation.

In addition to my master’s degree from Capella University and my bachelor’s degree from BYU-Provo, I have been seasoned through rich life experiences. You might say that I earned a degree from the “college of hard knocks” for raising a blended family of nine children with my husband. I truly understand the challenges of raising children in today’s world. Here are some of the dilemmas I have faced as a parent:

  • neurological and sensory disorders
  • learning disabilities
  • traumatic brain injury
  • alcohol addiction
  • depression
  • post-mission anxiety and OCD
  • academic giftedness
  • learning disorders
  • early return missionary
  • auto-immune disease
  • same-sex attraction
  • infertility
  • pornography addiction
  • eating disorders
  • loss of testimony
  • atheism

Therapeutic Approach

Depending upon your individual goals, I may suggest Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EFT Emotional Freedom Technique, or a combination of therapies. I understand that counseling can be scary. Real, deep change takes hard work and honest soul-searching. I will help you to feel safe and supported throughout your counseling experience. If you are ready for change, I can help you to 1) grow from your pain, 2) discover new thinking patterns, 3) connect to your own inner wisdom and strength, and 4) learn new ways of coping. As a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP), I may also suggest nutritional/integrative options for managing mental health and sleep issues.

I have loved coming to Middleton Counseling. After having a bad experience with my first counselor, coming here was a great relief. They are so kind and friendly and I always feel safe and comfortable talking to them.

Middleton counseling has been very helpful and easy to work with. I had a session of the accelerated resolution therapy had have been pleased with the out come. Highly recommend.

A wonderful experience. I enjoy going there.
