Justin Eastland, Counselor Intern

About Me
My name is Justin Eastland, I am a Master’s in Social Work Intern at Middleton Counseling. I graduate next year with my LMSW from the University of Denver. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science with International Business and Portuguese Minors from California State University Fullerton. I have been married for over 20 years and am the proud father of 4 children (2 girls, 2 boys) an 2 Boston Terriers. I was born in Connecticut but have lived in the great state of Idaho since I was in grade school. I’ve been all over the world, but Idaho is always my home. I have spent the last 20 years as the owner of a boutique business development and consulting company which I started with my father. Two years ago, I made the decision to make a change and pursue a career in counseling. As a former college athlete, I have been entrenched in the sports community for most of my life. I have coached youth sports for many years beginning with coaching my girls in soccer. I have also coached rugby, baseball, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, and am currently the Head Football Coach at a local school here in the Treasure Valley. I also hold a Second-Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Working with kids and athletes has been my passion and the main reason I decided to leave corporate America and embark on this journey into counseling. I have coached kids, teens, and adults in many sports. I take special pride in having worked with my Veteran friends in various capacities.
Therapeutic Approach
My personal therapeutic approach to counseling is a mixture of methods (Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy etc.) that I modify to fit the individual and the situation. Everyone is different and everyone’s response to life differs so greatly that I feel being open to multiple approaches across a large spectrum of issues can be very beneficial. Life is too complicated to go through it alone and sometimes we all need a little help to overcome obstacles.
